Alexandra

Swedish multimedia artist living in Brussels since 2003.

Born in Gothenburg, Sweden.

Alexandra is a Swedish multimedia artist with a background in painting, printmaking, flowers and ceramics.

With a studio in Ixelles and one foot on the Swedish west coast, inspiration flows both ways. Alexandra works with ceramics at the Academy in Anderlecht, and with drawing and printmaking at the Academy in Uccle.

She brings together ceramic sculptures, sculptural lamps and large-scale paintings in vivid, playful environments inspired by nature and underwater worlds. Organic forms, bright colours and tactile surfaces invite the viewer into a space that feels both familiar and fantastical.

Her ceramic works move between the functional and the decorative. She is not looking for perfection, but for a way to transfer joy and playfulness.

Alexandra creates paintings and sculptural forms that resemble sea creatures, corals, shells and plants, blurring the line between object and character. Their surfaces are layered with colour and texture, celebrating imperfection, movement and the hand of the maker.

The paintings expand this universe on a larger scale. Bold, colourful compositions evoke underwater landscapes, flowing currents and imagined botanical gardens. Shapes drift, collide and transform.

Together, the works create an immersive world that embraces joy, curiosity and creativity. Alexandra likes to tell a story that is completed in the mind of the viewer, inviting them to embrace colour and playfulness in life.

“I’d like people to feel happy when they see my work. Sometimes you don’t know if you like it or not, but you know you feel something.”
